Located on the Thompson Nickel Belt, Manitoba, Canada, one of the world’s richest nickel districts. The Manibridge Mine was formerly owned by Falconbridge and mined from 1971-1977. The Manibridge system hosts high-tenor, high-grade nickel sulphide mineralization along strike and below the old mine workings. The Manibridge mine trend has demonstrated potential for numerous high-grade ore zones within a mineralized envelope that extends for at least 1 km on strike, 800 m at depth, and open in all directions. The North Manibridge zone, 3 km along strike from the old mine, was drilled in 2019. Drill result highlights include 12.06 Ni% from 128-129 meters within a broader interval of 2.75% Ni from 128-134.6 metres (19MB01) and 6.1 Ni% from 133.83-135.31 meters (19MB03).
Metal Energy has completed a total of ~12,500 metres over two drill programs.
Phase 1 – 2,500 Metres
Metal Energy’s first drill program on the Manibridge project was a success in many ways. The drill program was designed to provide the Company with modern downhole information specific for understanding high-grade Nickel mineralization along the Manibridge trend. All drill holes successfully intersected high-grade nickel and copper cobalt sulphide mineralization over a 1 km strike length. At least four zones of overlapping mineralization were discovered, and the drill program filled gaps in the model where no mineralization was previously defined. Drill holes MNB003 and MNB004 intersected thick accumulations of composite mineralization defined over 100 and 80 metres drill hole length with 40% and 55% of those intervals being mineralized, respectively.
Phase 2 – 10,000 Metres
A total of ~10,000 meters has been completed over 36 diamond drill holes, including 6 abandoned drill holes, with all completed drill holes having intersected visible nickel sulphides. The drill hole collar locations were all within 150 to 600 metres of the old mine workings. The drill holes targeted the shallower parts of the Manibridge nickel sulphide system at depths between 200 and 400 metres. Figure 1 shows the drill hole locations on a long section of the Manibridge trend.
Highlights Include:
The Manibridge project is located in the Thompson Nickel Belt of Manitoba, one of the world’s richest and most prolific nickel districts. The Manibridge appears to host high-tenor, high-grade nickel mineralization below and along strike of the previously mined area by Falconbridge from 1971-1977. Both the Manibridge Mine and North Manibridge Zone occur within a belt of highly deformed and serpentinized ultramafic, mylonite, metasomatic pegmatite rocks that host potentially economic concentrations of disseminated to massive nickel sulphide mineralization. Manibridge encompasses 4,368 hectares and is located 20 km south of Wabowden, Manitoba.
